Ubizen decided to use icons, individually and in diagrammatic illustrations, to help explain its complex technology. Since hundreds of icons would be needed, they asked us to create several different styles to help them center in on one they could commit to long term. This is the first of 4 styles we presented.
This second of the four sample styles was the winner, as Ubizen was very happy with its simplicity and color. This enabled complex illustrations to remain clean and open.
The third of 4 samples styles, this shows our range of creativity. It allowed us to clearly represent abstract concepts, and add a bit of humor as well.
Bold and futuristic, this last of the 4 sample styles came in a close second. The strength of the forms had impact, even without the use of color.
RSA Security asked us to create icons and symbols that would work well in a large scale, and represent complex, abstract concepts. They also hoped to see "personality" in the figures. This style injected life into some rather difficult technical concepts.
Communicating abstract concepts in a tiny space creates a real challenge. For a product GUI interface, Visigenic asked us to reflect key graphical elements we created for the corporate brand in a series of functional icons.
